Kansas State Board of Nursing Awards Scholarship to Outstanding RN Student from NCK Technical College

[Hays, KS – January 16, 2024] – The NCK Tech Nursing program is proud to announce that one of its registered nursing (RN) students, Roscate Mwaura, has been awarded a $1,000 scholarship by the Kansas State Board of Nursing (KSBN). This prestigious scholarship is part of a program aimed at supporting students in pre-licensure nursing programs across the State of Kansas.

The scholarship opportunity, provided by KSBN, requires nursing students to apply and submit an essay on a topic “The Impacts of Nursing Shortage on Models of Nursing Care” chosen by the Board Members. Through a blind review process, KSBN Board Members selected four outstanding students, and Roscate was among the recipients of this $1,000 scholarship.

To honor Roscate’s accomplishment, she and Sheri Stone, Director/Instructor of the NCK Tech Hays Nursing program, are invited to attend the Kansas State Board of Nursing Board Meeting on March 27, 2024, in Topeka. At the award ceremony Roscate will be presented with an award certificate. Furthermore, Roscate’s winning essay will be featured in an upcoming edition of the Kansas State Board of Nursing Newsletter, showcasing her exceptional writing skills and dedication to the nursing field.

The faculty of the nursing program at NCK Tech recognizes Roscate for her outstanding essay and well-deserved recognition through this scholarship. The achievement reflects not only on Roscate’s individual excellence but also highlights the caliber of students within the NCK Tech Nursing Program.
