Students from NCK Tech Beloit’s Welding program took home the silver medal at the National Skills USA welding Fabrication competition held in Atlanta, Georgia, June 21-24. The team consists of three students that work cooperatively to complete a project from blueprints using GMAW and GTAW welding processes. Skills utilized include: oxy-fuel cutting, welding in all positions, mathematics, layout, drilling, finishing, and the ability to adapt to alterations and stresses in the production environment.

The team consisted of Colton Bradford of Minneapolis, KS, Edgar Galicia of Kensington, KS, and Noland Vahle of Lee’s Summit, MO. The team had 6.5 hours to complete a mobile/modular weld curtain post; to be used in future national Skills USA welding fabrication competitions. In addition to the fabrication of the post, the team developed computer drafted blueprints with appropriate welding symbols and assembly drawings for a modular curtain post. The team gave an oral proposal on the weld curtain and in process changes needed for the mobile curtain post to function properly.

Thanks to all of our invaluable supporters that are gracious enough to fund the success of our future workforce!
