NCK Tech Licensed Practical Nurse Program Third Best in the State

NCK Tech was named the third best LPN program by practicalnursing.org, just .02 points away from the #2 spot and the highest ranked technical college in the state. One of the methodology used for this award is based off of the NCLEX-PN exam, which is used by state boards of nursing around the country for testing proficiency and granting licensure. The NCLEX-PN rates are one of the best ways to determine how well a school is preparing their students for a career in practical nursing.

The Beloit LPN program has boasted 100 percent first-time pass rates of the NCLEX-PN, by their students for the past two out of the three years. Current first-time pass rates average on the NCLEX-PN for the past five years is 98.07 percent. “Ranked as the top 3rd Practical Nursing Program in Kansas is an honor and it just shows the remarkable accomplishment which reflects the commitment, dedication, and ability of our graduates and the expertise of our current faculty.” stated Director of Nursing, Sandy Gottschalk.

On May 11 and 12, the college graduated 63 LPN’s into the nursing field. Dr. Randy Watson, Kansas Commissioner of Education was the speaker on the Hays campus and Scott Smathers, Vice President of Workforce Development for the Kansas Board of Regents was the speaker on the Beloit campus. Each speaker commended the work of the college and student’s choice to go into technical education.

As licensed practical nurses graduating a 9 month program, most graduates will realize starting wages close to the $40,000 mark. With the exiting of baby bombers from the nursing field, the demand for nurses, and therefore the wages offered, are predicted to increase. The Beloit campus is accepting applications for the LPN program until July 31, 2018 or until maximum capacity is reached.

NCK Tech is a fully accredited 2-year technical college with campuses in Beloit and Hays, KS. They tout 25 different programs to choose from and most programs are either 9 or 18 months in duration. The college also offers credits that transfer to 4-year institutions for students who are looking to further their education. To discover more about NCK Tech visit their website at www.ncktc.edu.
